Shared or permanent cells

Every zone gives out cells in one of two ways. Choose the one that matches how people use the lockers. IMBox sets this when it sets up the zone, and you see it when you add a user.

Shared usePermanent cells
How it worksThe system gives a free cell each time a person scans, and takes it back when they collect their things. Each person owns one cell, always the same.
Good forVisitors, day lockers, gyms.Staff, tenants, a desk with a drawer.
If all cells are usedThe next person is told "No free cells left in this zone".Not possible: every person has theirs.
You manageOnly the people. The people and which cell is whose.
Where the person can use itAt any shared zone of the station.Only at the zone their cell belongs to.

What the person does at the station

Shared use

  1. The person scans their card or types their ID. The system gives them a free cell and opens it.
  2. They put their things in and close the door.
  3. Later they scan again. The same cell opens, and is released for the next person.

Permanent cells

  1. The person scans their card or types their ID. Their own cell opens, every time.
  2. If they scan at the wrong zone of the same station, the screen says: "This cell is only accessible through the zone name client. Please check the other client devices."
  3. If they scan at the wrong locker station, the screen says the cell does not belong to this locker and shows the locker, the location and the cell number where it is.

See Using a cell for what the person sees and the messages they may get.

A cell that is "reserved"

In a shared zone a cell is reserved from the moment a person is given it until they collect their things. A reserved cell cannot be taken out of service. If you need it, first reset the cell.
